Throughout his career, Hywel has held key positions within community regeneration, such as the Ammanford Joint Venture. As Director of Community Action Network Cymru, he led on strategic initiatives across Wales such as the Communities First programme for example. He has also excelled as a Commercial and Partnerships Development Manager at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, supporting staff with commercialisation and consultancy opportunities in Digital Innovation and Technology, Engineering, Creative Industries, Management and Leadership, to name but a few.

• Social Enterprise: Established and managed Amcan Enterprise Limited, a successful social enterprise focused on supporting local non-profit and third-sector organisations.
• Business Development: As Director of Amcan, he has supported the development of many third sector organisations and social entrepreneurs. As Principal Business Development Officer at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, he has supported academic staff with commercialisation, consultancy, and spin-out activities.
